The competition at the Paris Olympic Games is over and the United States team has racked up another first-rate performance, winning 126 medals, more than any other nation. It tied China for the most gold, with 40, the Washington Post reported.

The Olympians with the most medals included swimmers Regan Smith as well as Torri Huske, who both took home five medals for the United States. Star gymnast Simone Biles along with swimmers Katie Ledecky, Kate Douglass, and Gretchen Walsh all took home four medals.

As a state, California had the most medals won by athletes, with 50 coming from Olympians from California. Texas athletes had the second largest number, with 28 medals and Floridians took home 20 medals as the state with the third highest number earned.

Despite the United States wins, the Olympics were dogged by controversies. The opening ceremony received enormous disdain from conservatives and people of faith. GOP nominee Donald Trump even said it “was a disgrace.” Star WNBA player Caitlin Clark did not make the basketball team, there was controversy surrounding the genders of two boxers in the women’s category, and other media attention was drawn to LeBron James after he snapped at a young fan.

At the end, Tom Cruise made an appearance for the closing ceremonies, lacking the controversy of the opening act. Cruise was lifted down like a mountain climber to the Stade de France and landed in a group of athletes who greeted him with high-fives.

Cruise turned around, gunned it with a motorcycle leaving the stadium for a waiting airplane. Given that Los Angeles is set to host the next Olympics, some suggested that his stunt was symbolic of the Games ending and getting ready to go at the next location, per USA Today.
