Patrisse Khan-Cullors, the Black Lives Matter co-founder who became the subject of controversy in the past week after her purchasing of various properties totally over $3 million surfaced, told college students last summer that capitalism is "more tragic" than the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. She also praised both rioters for their "righteous rage" and business owners who were willing to "take that L" after having their stores looted and destroyed in BLM riots.

Video footage, first obtained by Campus Reform, shows Khan-Cullors saying: "While the COVID-19 illness is tragic, what's more tragic is capitalism. What's more tragic is racism. What's more tragic is our inability to actually create a safety net for communities that are most attacked in this moment by both the crisis and the pandemic of racism, but also the crisis and pandemic of COVID-19."

The coronavirus pandemic has taken nearly three million lives since the first outbreak in Wuhan, China in 2019.

Khan-Cullors's property ventures came to light after it was revealed that she purchased a large property in Los Angeles's Topanga Canyon for $1.4 million. The complex contains bamboo floors, large open spaces, multiple buildings, and covers a quarter of an acre in land.

After the purchase made headlines, it was revealed that Khan-Cullors actually owns multiple other properties across the United States, including two other homes in the Los Angeles area costing $510,000 and $590,000 and a $415,000 home in Georgia.

She also reportedly travelled to an upscale neighbourhood in the Bahamas to ponder the purchase of local real estate. The neighbourhood, which includes homes owned by celebrities such as Justin Timberlake and Tiger Woods, boasts properties costing between $5 million and $20 million.

Despite her private property accumulation, Khan-Cullors derides capitalism as "tragic" and refers to herself as a "Marxist." Opposition to private property ownership is considered an important aspect of Marxist ideology.
