Senator Rand Paul spoke to Charlie Kirk on Friday and condemned Senator Lindsey Graham after the South Carolinian senator publicly called for the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Sen. Lindsey Graham made headlines in the last 24 hours, saying outright, bluntly, that we need to try to encourage and support the assassination of Vladimir Putin, regime change, and, more than that, we need to try to get someone to 'cut the head off the snake, Kirk said. "What is your take on this pretty preposterous proposal?"
"I think it's reckless speech," Paul told Kirk. "I think it inflames the situation."
"I think," Paul said, "if you're worried about your adversary being irrational, saying things like you're going to assassinate him would actually make things worse."
"It's actually against the US law," Paul said of Graham's declaration. "US law for a long time has been that we don't assassinate civilian leaders of other governments."
"And so, no, just wrong-headed on every notion. I think people in elected offices need to realize that their words actually have consequences, and they should actually be careful with what they say," concluded Paul.
Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas had also used very strong language when he previously publicly condemned Sen. Graham's statement on Twitter.
"This is an exceptionally bad idea," Cruz said. "Use massive economic sanctions; BOYCOTT Russian oil & gas; and provide military aid so the Ukrainians can defend themselves. But we should not be calling for the assassination of heads of state."
Human Events Daily's Jack Posobiec went even further, calling for Sen. Graham to resign during an appearance on Timcast IRL Thursday night.
"You need to resign," Posobiec said as soon as he heard the news.
