Authorities late Sunday night raided the Greensboro, North Carolina home of the the 58-year-old Democratic activist accused of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump with an AK-47 on Sunday afternoon.

Video released by The Times showed authorities approaching the home in the dark and searching the interior. It is unclear if the officers found anything inside the home, the New York Post reported. "Police! Make yourself seen!" one officer yelled as they went inside the home with flashlights and handguns.

A background check by Fox News stated that Ryan Wesley Routh's current residence is in Hawaii and that he is a frequent visitor at police stations because of his dozens of arrests. He is originally from North Carolina and his rap sheet includes arrests for simple drug possession, driving without a license, expired inspection and operating a vehicle with no insurance. According to the Daily Mail, a pickup truck parked outside Routh’s Hawaii home was found with a Biden-Harris sticker on the bumper.

Routh moved to Hawaii in 2017, where he started a construction company that builds basic modular houses for homeless people, according to a LinkedIn site that, along with Routh’s other social media posts, were wiped soon after his arrest. Routh's son, Oran, told the Daily Mail following the assassination attempt that his father had moved back to Hawaii from North Carolina a few years ago to live with a girlfriend.

Routh found Trump playing golf in West Palm Beach, FL Sunday afternoon. Police arrested Routh shortly after he was alleged to have pointed his rifle at Trump while he was golfing at Trump International Golf Club. Routh did not get a shot off and this time Secret Service agents fired first and pursuing police apprehended Routh alive and uninjured. Authorities said Trump did not warrant the same degree of security as a “sitting president.” Authorities did not say how Routh knew that Trump would be playing golf on Sunday or at approximately what hole he would be playing.

After collecting his thoughts after the second assassination attempt Trump issued the following statement: "I would like to thank everyone for your concern and well wishes," Trump said. "It was certainly an interesting day! Most importantly, I want to thank the US Secret Service, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and his Office of brave and dedicated Patriots, and, all of Law Enforcement, for the incredible job done today at Trump International in keeping me, as the 45th President of the United States, and the Republican Nominee in the upcoming Presidential Election, SAFE. THE JOB DONE WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. I AM VERY PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!"

On Sunday, the son of the accused would-be assassin told The Daily Mail that his father hates the former president like “every reasonable person does” and claimed he eschews violence. Oran Routh, 35, said, “He’s not a violent person. He’s a hard worker and a great dad. He’s a great dude, a nice guy, and has worked his whole f*cking life.”
