On Friday, the March for Life took place in downtown Washington, DC, with thousands of pro-life attendees marching from the Washington Monument near the White House to the Supreme Court on Capitol Hill in support of restoring a "culture of life" in the United States.

The march itself was preceded by a rally on the grounds of the Washington Monument, featuring Vice President JD Vance making his first public appearance in his new role since Monday’s inauguration ceremony, as well as a video message from President Donald Trump. Also speaking at the event were House Speaker Mike Johnson, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and surfing icon Bethany Hamilton.

Thousands of students, parents, and other pro-life activists from across the country took to the streets to express their opposition to abortion. The organization said that it was marching even after Roe v. Wade was overturned and abortion decisions were returned to individual states because "the necessary work to build a culture of life in the United States of America is not finished. Rather, it is focused differently."

"Sadly, the number of abortions annually is still well over 900,000 each year, and that number is expected to decrease only by roughly 200,000 each year in a post-Roe America. Many national legislative battles loom, including even keeping longstanding Hyde protections, which limit government funding for abortion on annual appropriation bills. The Hyde Amendment has saved over 2 million lives and is arguably the most impactful pro-life policy in our nation’s history, but now cannot be taken for granted," the group said.

"Last, our most important work is changing hearts and minds. The goal of the national March for Life is to not only change laws at the state and federal level, but to change the culture to ultimately make abortion unthinkable," the group added, vowing to "continue to march every January at the national level until a culture of life is restored in the United States of America."

The march traversed down streets surrounding the National Mall with attendees carrying flags and signs, some of which read, "death is not welcome here," "life is our revolution," "I regret my abortion," and "if your healthcare kills people on purpose, you're doing it wrong."

The march ended at the Supreme Court, with activists outside the building chanting, "abortion is racist, abortion is oppression. Abortion is sexist, abortion is oppression." Others brought their signs to the front of the building, including a banner that read "defund Planned Parenthood."
