On Saturday, a group of supporters for former President Donald Trump gathered outside the Cradle of Aviation museum in Garden City, Long Island where Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is set to give a speech.

The supporters were shouting "we love Trump" outside the event the same day supporters showed up outside Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate to show support following the former president's indictment on Thursday by a Manhattan grand jury.

Jack Posobiec tweeted that a "flash mob of Trump supporters has popped up outside the DeSantis event in New York flying Trump 2024 flags."

Massive crowds reportedly showed up for Trump.

One Trump supporter said, according to Viral News NYC "We're all here gathering to show our support for the rightful President Donald J. Trump. I think Ron DeSantimonious has a lot of nerve to come here on New York turf where it's Trump country, clearly."

"Especially two days after the politically motivated indictment that just got dropped from the Manhattan DA," she said. "So the fact that he's here, he thinks he can run in a primary against Trump and it's just not going to happen."

She added that they were there to tell DeSantis to "go home."

Trump has surged in the polls following news of his indictment on Thursday. He now leads Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as the GOP frontrunner for president in 2024 by 26 percentage points according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll. That surge follows a recent new Harvard/Harris poll that had 50 percent of voters saying Trump would beat Desantis if the GOP primary were held today.

DeSantis' visit to New York follows news that Trump will travel to Manhattan next week to deal with his indictment in Manhattan. The indictment was announced on Thursday and came out of Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg's office.

A person close to the group hosting the event said they were "proud to help host the events today featuring Governor Ron DeSantis that put a spotlight on those state policies that are working and those that are clearly not working."

The group hosting is To the Republic, a non-profit under the 501c4 category, which means they do not have to disclose donor information.
