Gavin Newsom accuses GOP governors of kidnapping after busing illegal immigrants to blue cities

Newsom wrote, "I urge US DOJ to investigate whether the alleged fraudulent inducement would support charges of kidnapping under relevant state laws."

California Governor Gavin Newsom wrote the Department of Justice to encourage them to investigate Republican governors who have been bussing illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities as possible being guilty of kidnapping.

Fox News reports that Newsom wrote, "I urge US DOJ to investigate whether the alleged fraudulent inducement would support charges of kidnapping under relevant state laws."

Newsome wrote the letter directly to Attorney General Merrick Garland and said, "Several of the individuals who were transported to Martha’s Vineyard have alleged that a recruiter induced them to accept the offer of travel based on false representations that they would be transported to Boston and would receive expedited access to work authorization."

On Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis joined a growing number of state leaders, such as Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who have been sending illegal immigrants to "sanctuary destinations" across the country. The Florida mayor sent two planes full of illegal migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts, a state that has supported the Biden administration’s open-border policies.

Blue city mayors have lamented the modest influx of illegal immigrants as overwhelming. In Washington, DC, Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a public emergency last week to handle an increase of 9,400 migrants. In NYC, Mayor Eric Adams said the increase is causing him to reconsider the state's "right to shelter" laws.

Biden's border crisis has seen a record-high number of illegal immigrants pouring into the United States along the country's southern border. 1,659,206 illegal immigrants crossed in 2021 and there have been more than two million encounters in the 2022 fiscal year. Month after month, hundreds of thousands of migrants pour into the United States illegally, mostly into Texas.

When Joe Biden took office in 2021 he dramatically loosened restrictions along the southern border which contributed to a growing humanitarian crisis. The Biden Administration and HHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas repeatedly said that children would be admitted and that those seeking asylum would also be let in in an effort to distinguish themselves from the Trump Administration.

It is a federal misdemeanor to illegally cross into the United States and a felony if it's done twice yet President Biden has remarkably reduced the number of prosecutions for that crime.
