Podcaster Joe Rogan joined Mel Gibson on Thursday where the two of them spoke about Gibson's faith as well as the Shroud of Turin, a cloth that many Christians believe was used in the burial of Jesus Christ.

Gibson was talking about his journey of faith to Rogan, when he said, “Just recently, they verified the Shroud of Turin. Have you seen that?”

Rogan responded, “I've been reading about it, and I know that there's some contention, there's some discussion and debate about it, but they used to think that it was only a couple 100 years old, and now they've changed that." He added, "They also don't understand how it was made which to me is very fascinating cause it's not paint, they don't know how the image itself and how that technology would have even been available.”

Gibson then went into the various details and evidence that the shroud was authentic and added that there would have to be “an intense light, I mean, atomic, to leave almost like a photographic imprint on a piece of cloth.”

“And you can see it, that it depicts a first-century Hebrew male because the hairstyle was from the first century, and a Hebrew hairstyle, that he was about six feet tall, that he was completely scourged all over his body. He was crucified,” he added.

Gibson added that the weave in the cloth as well as the cloth itself has been dated the first century and said that the pollen in the cloth was also found in the region where Christ was crucified.

In addition to this, the two commented about the situation in California and said that California Governor Gavin Newsom has not run the state well. "They spent $24 billion last year on the homeless, and what did they spend on preventing these wildfires?" Rogan told Gibson. "Zip." The actor replied in agreement, "Zip." Gibson then commented, "And in 2019, Newsom said, you know, that he would take care of the forest, maintain the forest and do all that kinda stuff. He didn't do anything."

Rogan then said that California also "cut the water off," potentially referring to Trump's comments to him in late October regarding Newsom where Trump said he refused to take in water from Canada in order to protect a fish. "All our tax dollars probably went for Gavin's hair gel," Gibson joked.
