The dog stopped at the doorway, but was pulled back by the dog handler officer.
The recording reveals suspect Cole Allen, age 31, moving through a corridor before disappearing from view, with a K-9 security officer following behind, who stops momentarily before proceeding. The dog stopped at the doorway, but was pulled back by the dog handler officer. Shortly after, Allen came out of the door and ran through the hallway, wielding a rifle toward multiple Secret Service and security staff members.
The footage showed a confrontation between a Secret Service officer and Allen, with the officer discharging his weapon five times. Allen shot one of the Secret Service officials, but it was stopped by the officer's body armor, leaving him unhurt. The incident took place as the Secret Service appeared to be taking down one of the magnetometers at the scene.
The recording concludes with security personnel flooding the scene and detaining Allen outside the camera's range.
Additional footage from the day before shows Allen scouting out the corridors of the location and the hotel fitness center, appearing to familiarize himself with the location before the incident took place on Saturday.
Allen has been charged with attempting to assassinate the President of the United States, transportation of a firearm and ammunition in interstate commerce with intent to commit a felony, and discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.
In an email Allen sent to family members as well as a former employer before the incident, he said, "I wish I could have said anything earlier, but doing so would have made none of this possible. My sincerest apologies for all the trouble I've caused. (scheduled send)-Cole."
The email contained a manifesto which stated he was "no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.”
