On Thursday, President Donald Trump participated in a patrol of Washington, DC, with law enforcement officers to combat crime in the nation's capital. This follows the federalization of the District of Columbia by the president as part of his administration's initiative to "make cities safe again."

President Trump met with federal and local law enforcement officers, as well as National Guardsmen, and commended their efforts in apprehending criminal offenders. The president stated that these efforts have produced substantial positive outcomes.

"I just want to thank everybody very much for being here," said Trump. "We've had some incredible results...It's like a different place. It's like a different city. It's the capital— It's going to be the best in the world."

The president further contended, "You people are winners, and I just think it's such an honor to be with you. We're going to Make Washington, DC, Great Again!"

"I've never received so many phone calls thanking me for what we've done in Washington, DC. They said what you've done is unprecedented," said Trump. "One of the things that we're going to be redoing is your parks...We're going to be regrassing all of your parks. It will look like Augusta. It will look like, more importantly, Trump National Golf Club — that's even better."

President Trump was joined by other administration officials, including interim US Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, who told law enforcement personnel that her office has their backs.

"Every night when you hit the street, you make a difference — not just for us, but for everyone in the District," said Pirro. "I am making sure that we back the blue!"

President Trump also fed the hardworking law enforcement officers, treating them to some of his favorite foods: hamburgers and pizza.

"I'll eat with you and we're going to have a little fun," the president said. "Then we're going to get back to work and we're going to take care of these criminals."

Since President Trump federalized the nation's capital earlier this month, it was reported on Thursday that Washington, DC, has gone seven consecutive days without a homicide for the first time in months. Additionally, Attorney Pirro announced that there have been over 400 arrests made since the Trump crime crackdown began, with 127 of those arrests being made over the past weekend alone. Trump has indicated his intention to expand the duration of federalization, asserting that he would sign an emergency declaration if Congress does not extend the 30-day time limit via a bill.
