The lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center is a New York City institution, kicking off the holiday season with music, festivities, and cheer.

This year, however, just as the Grinch descended upon Whoville to try and disrupt the town's most joyous occasion, anti-Israel demonstrators have vowed to attend the family-oriented event, set to take place at 7 pm this Wednesday, and cause a scene.

On Sunday, Within Our Lifetime (WOL), the pro-Palestinian activist group dedicated to the destruction of Israel, announced the protest via Instagram.

"Wednesday Nov. 29th, 6:00 pm rally at Rockefeller Center to FLOOD the tree lighting for Gaza," the post read. "Priests of Palestine call for mobilization, not celebration!"

The group urged prospective attendees to bring their Palestinian flags, signs, and keffiyehs.

Comments on the post, which has since received over 23,000 likes, were largely supportive, however, a some users cautioned against holding a rally during an overtly non-political event that has for nearly a century brought people together.

"This has a do with somebody's holiday," one user wrote. "Would you really like if someone were to protest outside a mosque?"

"Your protest or leading to vandalism, and infringing on someone's religion," they continued, suggesting to protest at the tree-lighting ceremony was "an attack on Christianity."

Other users responded to the comment by stating that Jesus was, himself, Palestinian, while others said it didn't matter because those who attend the event are "privileged."

The NYPD told The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI, in response to the targeting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting event, "The NYPD’s Intelligence and Counterterrorism Bureau deploys a wide array of resources to protect the city based on events unfolding here and around the world. We do anticipate that there will be protests in the city on Wednesday — to include around the area of the tree lighting — and at future gatherings around the city in the days and weeks to come, as we have seen over the past seven weeks. The NYPD will be on hand to protect the tree lighting and all those attending, and we will not tolerate disruption or any threats to public safety."

On Thanksgiving, WOL took credit for vandalizing the main branch of the New York Public Library with antisemitic graffiti, specifically to target a Jewish donor. The damage repair bill has been estimated at $75,000, a sum the library will have problems coming up with, as the institution is already facing budget cuts due to the amount of money New York City is spending on illegal immigrants.

The Post Millennial previously revealed that WOL published a “tool kit” for pro-Palestinian supporters to plan and execute anti-Israel rallies, as nearly identical pro-Hamas rallies have sprung up on college campuses and in cities across the US, leaving many to question who is behind the seemingly organized effort.
