The head of President Biden’s new “Ministry of Truth” has voiced support for Taylor Lorenz, a mainstream media reporter who uses her platform to doxx private citizens.
Lorenz, a Washington Post tech reporter, published an expose on the creator of the popular Libs of TikTok Twitter account last week. The report unveiled the name and address of the creator, who had voiced her desire to remain anonymous, citing privacy and safety reasons.
Lorenz attempted to justify the doxxing, saying the user “isn’t just some average woman with a social media account” but is instead a “powerful influencer operating a massively impactful right wing media shaping discourse around LGBTQ+ rights.”
The Libs of TikTok account posted videos to Twitter that were already publicly circulating on the Chinese video sharing platform TikTok.
This isn’t the first time Lorenz’s reporting has come into question.
Last year, after lying about billionaire investor Marc Andreessen, Lorenz claimed to be the victim of an online harassment campaign which “destroyed her life.”
And just weeks before doxxing the Libs of TikTok account, Lorenz broke down in tears on MSNBC, saying the harassment she experienced online gave her “severe PTSD” and caused her to contemplate suicide.
Still, the head of the new Disinformation Governance Board, Nina Jankowic, has publicly voiced her support for Lorenz.
I’m so sorry Taylor. We’re with you.

“I’m so sorry Taylor. We’re with you,” Jankowicz tweeted on May 31, 2021, in a response to a now-deleted tweet from Lorenz.
The Disinformation Governance Board falls under the purview of the Department of Homeland Security, a law enforcement agency, and will equip local communities to identify individuals who could be “descending into violence” from influence of hate, false narratives, or other forms of misinformation.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has said that Jankowicz is an "expert on online disinformation” and has "extensive qualifications" on the matter.
But on Saturday, Trump attacked the board — which he said exists to censor free speech — and referred to Jankowicz as a "longtime political operative.”
