A high-profile fundraiser is set to take place next month in Palm Beach, Florida for the Republican Party’s wealthiest donors. Hosted by hedge fund founder John Paulson, the event aims to gather crucial financial backing for Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, according to a report by CNN.

Paulson, a prominent figure in the financial world, expressed his enthusiasm for supporting Trump's bid for President, saying he was "pleased" with the former President's current re-election efforts.

“His policies on the economy, energy, immigration, and foreign policy will be very beneficial for the country,” Paulson said.

“We are receiving an overwhelming amount of support from donors,” Paulson continued. “This support, along with the landslide victory he achieved in the primaries, shows his strong support amongst Americans.”

The fundraiser, dubbed the "Inaugural Leadership Dinner," will take place on April 6 and is poised to draw support from a lineup of wealthy Republican donors. Co-chairs for the event include Robert Mercer, Harold Hamm, businessman Robert Bigelow, and casino mogul Steve Wynn.

Notably, the event signals a shift among some affluent Republican donors who had previously hesitated to publicly back Trump. Robert Bigelow, who had initially supported Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for president, has now thrown his weight behind Trump's candidacy.

Several Presidential candidates who ran against Trump but ultimately dropped out are scheduled to appear at the fundraiser as "special guests." These individuals will include South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, and Vivek Ramaswamy.

This fundraiser represents one of the first major gatherings since Trump emerged as the presumptive GOP nominee for president. It also coincides with Trump's efforts to reshape the leadership within the Republican National Committee (RNC), such as the recent appointment of Lara Trump as RNC co-chair. Lara Trump's appointment was a result of growing disappointment from GOP officials regarding former RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel's leadership.
