Woke school board member resigns after refusing to elect 'cis white male' as president

"I believe that Mr. D’Elia would make an excellent president. However, I feel that electing the only cis white male on this board president of this district sends the wrong message to our community."

A Pennsylvania school board member has handed in her resignation from her position, to take effect at the beginning of 2023, after stating in a meeting that she couldn't vote for a cis white male to be their new president, despite his qualifications.

Treasurer Jennifer Solot led a December 6 meeting for the Upper Moreland School District, north of Philadelphia, during which the board cast their votes for the new president in a vote between Greg D'Elia and April Stainback, according to the Daily Mail.

"I believe that Mr. D’Elia would make an excellent president," Solot said. "However, I feel that electing the only cis white male on this board president of this district sends the wrong message to our community: a message that is contrary to what we as a board have been trying to accomplish."

Stainback ultimately defeated D'Elia, a father of three who previously served as an area School Director, by a vote of 8-1.

On Monday, after a video of the meeting went viral, the district's superintendent Dr. Susan Elliott issued a statement regarding Solot’s comments. "As a result of this incident, Ms. Solot has decided to resign from the board effective January 2, 2023. She wishes to apologize for her poorly chosen words and does not want to be a distraction from the great things happening in our schools on a daily basis. The district thanks Ms. Solot for her five years of service to the Upper Moreland community as a board member."

The statement added that Solot’s comments were "solely hers" and did not represent the opinions of the other members of the school board members or the district.

Last month, a San Francisco elections official was released from his contract due to being white and male.

"Our decision wasn't about your performance, but after twenty years we wanted to take action on the City's racial equity plan and give people an opportunity to compete for a leadership position," the commission president said about the move.

Just last week, also in California, an English teacher claimed that grammar and writing rules are based on white supremacy, so she refuses to teach it in her classroom.
